DWTS Star: Shawn Johnson

Shawn Johnson was born on January 19, 1973, to James F. Johnson and Brenda Allen -Barnett. Johnson was a student-athlete growing up with his parents and two sisters. While at Madison County High School, he developed interpersonal skills, a dedication to duty, and a competitive nature. 


After graduating in 1991, Johnson continued his education at the University of West Georgia, where he received his degree in Mass Communications in 1996. However, his most significant investment would come three years later. 


In 1999, Shawn married the love of his life, Latosha Brinson-Johnson. Throughout their marriage, Shawn and Latosha invested in each other, resulting in many returns. Their best achievements, without a doubt, are their children, Reagan and Shawn (Deuce). The Johnsons are active members of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where they work and serve. 


In 2018, Johnson became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc; by way of the Beta Gamma Gamma Chapter, servicing the Hinesville, Fort Stewart, and Richmond Hill areas. This service journey elevated Johnson's community service endeavors. 


Johnson is a mentor and peer counselor for Top Teens of America and a mentor for "Heroes," a program that mentors 23 second and third-grade boys at Taylor Creek Elementary School Johnson is also a facilitator for Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University at his church. Johnson also assists with the annual Sickle Cell Walk to bring awareness to the ailing condition within the black community and volunteers at Bonaventure Funeral Home. Johnson believes that providing the departed one last service is one of the highest levels of service one can give.


In his downtime, Johnson enjoys dancing while spectators watch, playing golf and chess, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and reading. Johnson loves to coach and referee youth league basketball. He also loves to travel and spend time with his family.


Johnson's passion is to keep the world a great place and spread joy, love, and peace.
