6th Annual Dancing with the Stars
Hinesville, March 7, 2020 – The 6th Annual Dancing with the Stars of the Coastal Empire brought out its biggest crowd to date to support local community members in their dance efforts to raise funds for CASA.
Over 300 packed the Liberty County Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 7 to show their support for six local stars and their professional dancers as they strut their stuff for the top fundraiser and grand prize trophy. CASA also added a new category to the event: Volunteer’s choice, where five CASA volunteers had the opportunity to judge and pick their favorite star.
The event was emceed by WTOC’s Dawn Baker and was judged by Mr. David Floyd, Executive Director of the Liberty County Family Connection, Mrs. Jo-Ann Anderson, President of the Tattnall County NAACP and Ms. Destiny Levant, Miss Golden Isles 2019.
As for the winners, third runner-up went Ashley Sanders and professional dancer Christopher Cooper, of Dance Savannah Studios, for their Hip-Hop dance, second runner-up went to Kim Ryon and professional dancer Alfredo Horna, of Salon de Baile Studios, with their West Coast Swing dance, first runner-up went to La-Dona Andrews and professional dancer Darrell Davis, of Salon de Baile Studios, with their RNB/Salsa/Hip-Hop fusion and the winner went to Crystal Hunter and professional dancer Alfredo Horna for their Swing/Latin dance. Hunter also won Volunteer’s Choice and Joseph Grant won Top Fundraiser for raising over $5,000.
Overall, CASA exceeded their fundraiser goal of $25,000. The funds for this event will go back to Atlantic Area CASA, Inc. as they continue to advocate for abused and neglected children that have placed in foster care.
